Our History

Seasons of Williamsburg is owned and operated by A. Kent Harrell and Kendall S. Kerby.  Kent began the business working from his home as a freelance floral designer in 1991.  In October of 1992 he moved the operation into a small space attached to Carolina Furniture on Route 60 in Williamsburg.  Kendall was working at Carolina Furniture as Assistant Manager then, and began helping Kent when he finished his work day.  The little business flourished and grew and Kendall joined Kent full time in April of 1995.

Needing more space, they rented a second site on Jamestown Road in the Old Harbor Bank building near Colony Square in the Old Harbor Bank building across from Colony Square in November of 1995.  For a period of 10 months, Seasons had two locations, but all the flower arranging was done at the Jamestown Road shop  With more space, they began to add gifts and home accessories as well as working with high end silk flowers.  Then in August 1996 they closed the shop at Carolina Furniture and continued to expand the business on Jamestown Road.  In 1999 the Harbor Bank building was sold and once again became a bank.  This was a "crossroads' moment for Kent and Kendall - should they try and find another space to rent, or should they now try and build a space for Seasons with all the improvements that their growing business needed?

As luck would have it, the current lot on which the present building stands was available for sale and they began construction on their new building in 1999.  The ideas for the new space were drawn on the back of a paper placemat which were then transitioned into building plans.  In November of 2000, they officially opened their doors at 1308 Jamestown Road and as the saying goes.......the rest is history!
